Saint John Horticultural Association History
The Saint John Horticultural Association was formed in May of 1893.
A leading group of citizens formed the association so they could design
a Public
Gardens and over see Rockwood Park. They began to secure other properties
near the Park with the purpose of keeping it wild.
Today Rockwood Park encompasses almost 2200 acres.
The Saint John Horticultural Association still manages the Public Garden
and greenhouses on Seely Street along with Rockwood Park Campground.
We
have a board of directors that oversee our operations in the Park
and help make decisions on future development.
